You’ll find the answer on Števka’s blog
If you’d like to learn more about Bosco Boys Langata, we recommend reading the new blog post by our volunteer Števka, who has been working at this transformative center for 10 months now. She worked here alongside volunteer Nikola, who wrote a blog post at the beginning of their service. Now, Štefánia has shared her perspective on the center and their mission with us.
Our boys
Volunteers spend entire days with the boys, many of whom are also enrolled in our The Adopt a Child in Kenya programme “Everything we do here has some kind of impact on the boys. For example, during the lessons we have with them, it’s not so much about them learning as much information as possible, but about them learning how to behave in class. We teach them that whatever they do—whether they’re playing soccer, studying, or eating—they should give it 100%, and it becomes a prayer.”
A project that makes sense
Števka has been working with the boys who used to live on the streets since last September. Her blog features her personal account: “Working with them isn’t easy at all. The first two months are the hardest. Until that time, they had ‘freedom,’ and suddenly they have to follow and obey the rules. But that makes it all the more rewarding to see their small steps toward improvement: when they bring you a chair because you have nowhere to sit, share a cookie they received, say thank you or ask for something. Those are the moments when you tell yourself that it really is worth it, and you feel genuine joy that they’re making progress.”
