SOUTH SUDAN

South Sudan is one of SAVIO’s largest mission countries. In the world’s youngest nation, scarred by years of war and recurring humanitarian crises, our work focuses on giving children and young people a real chance: access to schooling, vocational training and safe Salesian centres where they can grow up away from violence. Through your support we help local Salesian missionaries open doors that poverty and conflict would otherwise keep firmly shut.

ANGOLA

Angola has been at the heart of SAVIO’s work for decades. In Kala-Kala and other mission stations we drill wells that bring clean water to entire villages, support primary and vocational schools, and stand alongside the Salesians of Don Bosco as they accompany the poorest children and young people. Your help turns into wells, classrooms, school meals and a future for a generation rebuilding their country.

AZERBAIJAN

In Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, SAVIO supports Salesian youth centres that welcome children and teenagers regardless of background or faith. In a country where opportunities for the young are unevenly shared, these centres offer education, sport, creative activities and a safe space to grow up. Your gift helps keep the lights on, the doors open and the youth workers paid.

TANZANIA

Tanzania is one of the longest-standing destinations for Slovak Salesian missionaries. In Iringa, Njombe and Mafinga we support schools, dormitories and vocational workshops where young people from rural communities learn a trade and find a way out of poverty. Your support keeps these workshops running, pays teachers and gives village children a realistic chance at a different future.

ETHIOPIA

In Ethiopia, SAVIO’s flagship work is the Adopt a Child program, which directly supports pupils at the Don Bosco Gambela school in the country’s remote western region. Here, refugees from neighbouring South Sudan meet local communities struggling with poverty and limited access to education. Through regular giving, Slovak donors help thousands of children stay in school, eat regularly and dream beyond the camp fence.

UKRAINE

Since the outbreak of full-scale war, SAVIO has stood with the Salesians in Ukraine as they care for displaced families, children and young people. From hot meals and shelter to psychosocial support and informal schooling, our partners on the ground respond to needs that change by the week. Your gift keeps that response going — quietly, faithfully, for as long as it takes.

INDIA

In India — particularly in Kerala — SAVIO supports Salesian projects that work with children from the country’s most marginalised communities. From homes for street children to schools, vocational training and youth pastoral work, the focus is always the same: helping a young person stand on their own feet. Your support translates directly into education, meals and the chance of a dignified life.

YAKUTIA

Yakutia, in the Russian Far East, is one of the harshest places on earth — and one of the most overlooked. In Yakutsk and Aldan, Salesian missionaries run youth centres and small communities that serve children and families living far from any wider safety net. Your help reaches them through long winters and short summers, in a corner of the world where every gift counts twice.

KENYA

Kenya is a cornerstone of SAVIO’s work. Through the Adopt a Child program we support Bosco Boys in Nairobi — a home and school for boys rescued from the streets — and back projects in Kakuma refugee camp and the remote Marsabit region. From basic schooling to vocational training, your regular gift gives a child in Kenya something most of us take for granted: a safe place to grow up and a real chance of a future.

SLOVAKIA

SAVIO’s mission begins at home. In Slovakia we work above all with Roma children and young people, including the long-running Salesian community in Strelník, where volunteers, teachers and missionaries accompany families that the wider society too often forgets. Your support helps fund tutoring, summer camps, youth clubs and the day-to-day patient work that makes integration possible.

SUDAN

In Khartoum, SAVIO supports the Salesian presence that has stayed alongside the city’s poorest families through years of instability and, most recently, open war. Our partners run schools, clinics and emergency aid for displaced people, including many South Sudanese refugees. Your gift helps keep that work alive in one of the hardest places in the world to be a child.

SYRIA

In Syria, SAVIO supports the Salesians in Damascus and Aleppo as they accompany families through more than a decade of war, sanctions and — most recently — devastating earthquakes. Our help reaches children attending oratories and schools, families receiving food and medicine, and young people who refuse to give up on their country. Your gift keeps that hope going.

ECUADOR

In San Lorenzo, in northern Ecuador, SAVIO supports Salesian missionaries who work with children and young people in one of the country’s poorest and most marginalised regions. Vocational workshops, schools and pastoral care give young Ecuadorians a path out of poverty, drug trafficking and emigration. Your gift directly funds teachers, training and the daily care that makes a different future possible.

Adopt a Child in Ethiopia

Hope and a future for children in Ethiopia. The Adopt a Child in Ethiopia monthly regular giving program directly helps pupils at the Don Bosco Gambela school in the Gambela region of western Ethiopia. This area is one of the most challenging in the country, where refugees from neighbouring South Sudan meet local communities struggling with poverty and limited access to education and job opportunities. Your support can significantly improve these children's living conditions and give them a chance at a better future.

Adopt a Child in Kenya

Adopt a Child in Kenya is a monthly regular giving program. It focuses on direct help to children from the capital Nairobi, where more than 60,000 children live on the streets. From an early age these children face hunger, cold, illness, drugs, abuse and crime. Shelter and education are what they need most. You too can change a child's life in Kenya — adopt one now.

Tehlička

Tehlička is a regular nationwide public fundraising campaign run by the SAVIO civic association. Every year it helps poor and abandoned youth live a better and more dignified life in developing countries and regions of the world, as well as in places affected by humanitarian disasters. Since 2006 Tehlička has helped thousands of children and young people in Angola, Kenya, South Sudan, the Central African Republic, as well as Syria, India, Azerbaijan and Yakutia.

Class Adoption

Class Adoption in South Sudan is a monthly regular giving program. Thanks to donors and our partner BOSCOAID — a local Salesian development organisation — we support the education of children at 11 schools. With these contributions the schools provide textbooks, notebooks, writing supplies and uniforms. You too can change the lives of many children in South Sudan — adopt a class now.

Because Bread Is Needed

The Salesians of Don Bosco have a bakery in Bethlehem that donates 1,600 loaves of bread every day to those who need it most — families in need and institutions caring for children, youth, seniors, orphans and people with disabilities.
