2009 LITERACY

The aim of the project was to create a group of 50 local teachers — literacy facilitators — who, after completing their training, began working in 50 centres teaching the basics of reading and writing as well as introducing the basics of healthcare prevention. Each of the centres was attended by approximately 25 pupils — children and adults (1,250 in total). The project was carried out in the Libolo district of the Kwanza-Sul province in Angola. The funds were used for travel costs for the literacy facilitators, their small remuneration and teaching materials (boards, notebooks, pens, chalk). The project was supported from the state budget of the Slovak Republic through the SlovakAid official development assistance programme with the sum of EUR 79,268.
