The 5th edition of the nationwide Tehlička event was dedicated to Kenya and to the issue of street children. The public collection was authorized by decision of the Slovak Ministry of the Interior No. SVS-233004-2009/18738 of 2.11.2009, with collection account number 2620852641/1100. The main project of the 5th edition of Tehlička was support for the education and upbringing of street children at the Bosco Boys centre in Nairobi (where Slovak volunteers also work).
The total proceeds of the Tehlička for Kenya public collection amounted to €48,887.22.
After deducting the costs associated with organizing the collection, the net proceeds were distributed as follows:
- Contribution to the construction of a carpentry workshop at Bosco Boys in Nairobi €25,000
- Construction of a well for the school in Manguo-Maridi, South Sudan €10,000
- Contribution to the renovation of schools in Haiti €6,500
The settlement of the public collection was confirmed by the Slovak Ministry of the Interior on 9.9.2010
The collection directly involved more than 130 kindergartens, primary and secondary schools and almost 50 youth and other organizations in villages and towns throughout Slovakia. Through them around 60% of all funds were collected. The rest was made up of contributions from individual donors, who sent the funds directly to the account, via postal orders or by donor SMS message (2,872 messages were sent).
WE THANK ALL DONORS AND PARTICIPANTS FOR SUPPORTING TEHLIČKA 2010
