Building hope after 15 years of war

The new edition of the Tehlička 2026 campaign is focused on helping young people and their families in Damascus. For almost 16 years now Syria has been living with the consequences of a war that has left thousands of families in poverty and uncertainty.

Children are growing up without schools, young people without a future. Nine out of ten people live in poverty, millions have had to leave their homes and thousands of children have no access to education. And yet there is still something to build — not only buildings, but also hope. Every “little brick” helps build a future where it seems nothing is left.

Goal of the public fundraising campaign:

• equip the SAVIO Salesian educational centre in Damascus,
• run vocational courses for 500 young people from the most vulnerable groups,
• arrange internships and starter packs for graduates,
• provide psychosocial support to those who have lived through the trauma of war.

From survival to a trade: Education as a tool for restoring dignity

The educational centre will offer young people the chance to learn, to grow and to believe again that their life has meaning. The courses will help them learn a trade, repair an appliance, write an app or start their own small business. Psychosocial support will help them overcome years of fear and uncertainty.

The war has taken a great deal from them. Help us give young people in Syria an education that will stay with them for ever.
