2022 WELLS FOR ANGOLA
At the beginning of 2022, SAVIO o.z. launched a project focused on building six wells in Angola. Five of them will be in the province of Huambo and one in the Viana district of the capital city, Luanda. The wells, once built, will improve access to water for more than 7,000 people.
The wells in the province of Huambo will provide drinking water for a school and education centres. The Salesians of Don Bosco run four literacy centres there, which together are attended by 2,260 people. Thanks to the project, each centre will have its own well. The Don Bosco primary school has 4,200 pupils (who are taught on alternating shifts in 8 classrooms), and if the Salesians also manage to open the secondary school — which will be the only one in the area — 5,200 pupils will benefit from the well. In order to build a well, it is necessary to drill it and to provide a solar pump and a tower with a tank for the distribution of water.
Viana is a district of the capital city, Luanda. The Salesians run a boarding school for young people there and a secondary school for 600 young people. It is possible that the water from the well will be slightly salty, but it will be used mainly for the school’s agricultural activities, which will allow its self-sufficiency to be improved.
Between the beginning of the year and the end of May 2022, 3 wells were successfully completed in the province of Huambo. The project, with a total value of EUR 30,267, will be completed in the course of 2022. We owe the carrying out of the project to a generous donor.

The 18th edition of the Tehlička public collection for 2023 was registered by the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic in the register of public collections under registration number 000-2022-037123.
The Tehlička 2023 public collection ended on 31 October 2023.
The gross proceeds of the collection amount to EUR 73,950.74. The costs of running the collection were 24.50 percent. The net proceeds reached EUR 55,833.28.
With the funds raised we helped to expand a school and improve teaching at the new Salesian centre in the Angolan town of Huambo.
81 organisations were directly involved in the collection — 49 kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, 26 SDB youth centres and other communities, 5 parishes and 1 company in towns and villages across Slovakia.
All participants were sent promotional and background materials, which served not only the collection campaign but also as resources for education and awareness-raising in the field of development cooperation. As part of the collection, schools carried out — with our consent — their own activities serving its purpose.
WE THANK ALL DONORS AND PARTICIPANTS FOR SUPPORTING TEHLIČKA 2023!

The aim of the project was to create a group of 50 local teachers — literacy facilitators — who, after completing their training, began working in 50 centres teaching the basics of reading and writing as well as introducing the basics of healthcare prevention. Each of the centres was attended by approximately 25 pupils — children and adults (1,250 in total). The project was carried out in the Libolo district of the Kwanza-Sul province in Angola. The funds were used for travel costs for the literacy facilitators, their small remuneration and teaching materials (boards, notebooks, pens, chalk). The project was supported from the state budget of the Slovak Republic through the SlovakAid official development assistance programme with the sum of EUR 79,268.
