Pause – and you will experience service and growth
Salesian missionary volunteering is an experience of service and personal growth that allows young people to become part of the life of local communities both at home and around the world. Volunteers bring their time, skills and presence to children, young people and families, while at the same time discovering new perspectives on life, learning to live in a different environment and deepening their relationships and faith.
In the spirit of Don Bosco’s pedagogy, missionary volunteering is a journey that begins with preparation and service, but often shapes a person’s entire future life. “Offer your talents, skills and help in the places where they are needed most,” the Salesians invite.
What does volunteering involve?
The programme consists of three periods of time. The first step is a year of preparation. Future missionary volunteers attend nine weekend meetings devoted to the real-life questions they will encounter on the mission. This is followed by the year of volunteer service itself. The final stage is life after the mission. Volunteer service extends into a whole life inspired by this missionary experience.
